Rating: 5 A fantastic 5th installment to this hilarious series
Deciding to ditch the Washington, D.C. trip for the second year in a row, the Beverly Hills High School A-List crew finds out a lot more about love, life and gambling than they expect. This time around they add to the fold Anna Percy, the newly acquired New York born-and-bred WASP who has become a best friend to Samantha Sharpe. With Las Vegas ready and waiting, this elite group of friends ends up doing and seeing things that wouldn't dare cross their minds in Beverly Hills.
Their own little private 'senior' trip turns out to be more raucous, funny and astoundingly truth-packed than they ever imagined. From Parker Pinelli winning a much-needed $20,000 that he ends up having to forfeit because he's underage, to the girls' stint in a Vegas showgirl contest, this is a never-ending whirlwind. Joined by Anna's New York friends, Cyn and her boyfriend Scott, things get a little sticky when they all become participants in a Las Vegas revue featuring a famous hypnotist. Everyone has gone bananas --- that is, except Samantha, who has to witness the entire, horrific event.
Things go from bad to worse as they all settle down to watch the DVD, and shocking truths about who they really are begin to surface. Can their friendships outlast the reality of how they all feel?
Zoey Dean does it again in the fifth installment of this New York Times bestselling series. From beginning to end, readers will be swept away into the world of the A-List, realizing that although these characters are filthy rich with loads of money to expend, they are also human --- breathing, living, and having the same issues as 'regular' folks. BACK IN BLACK is a great addition to this hilariously funny series.

Rating: 5 A-List 5: Back in Black
I liked this one a whole lot better than the 4th one. Am I the only one who's happy with Ben and Anna getting back together? Because Anna just doesn't seem like a swinger but when she and Ben aren't together she just goes from guy to guy. I think it's pathetic, but that's just me.
So, they go to Vegas and alot of bad things happen. Well, they weren't bad but they really built suspense to the book.
The only thing that annoys me when reading this series is characters jump in and out, only seeming to be in the book when it's convenient for them to be. But I guess it's kinda like real life, where some things that happen just aren't worth mentioning. It's just that this is the first book I've seen that in and I was kinda interested. Anyways, this was worth the read. |
Rating: 5 Amazing
this book was amazing i didnt want to put it down... i liked how it fit with the other 4 books and i cant wait for the 6th one to come out next year... this book is a great book for teenage girls in ways i was able to relate to it... and i liked how it gave a lot of detail i felt like i was there while it was all happening... |
Rating: 4 Back in Black
I love the A-List series, but this one wasn't the best. Although I did like the change of scenery from L.A. to Las Vegas, not much happened in the book. Also, I wish the secrets that were revealed were secrets that the reader didn't already know. However, I did like the development of the characters of Cyn and Scott. The ending was also good. This book probably deserves four and a half stars. I can't wait for the next one. |
Rating: 4 Back In Black is good but not great
I thought the 1st A-list was a total bore the first time I read it, but the 2nd and 3rd installement of the series made me a big fan of the A-list. The 4th book, I thought was OK, but it it wasn't until I read the ending I thought it was an amazing read.
Back in Black the 5th book of the A-list series, was a fun read, but it wasn't as fun and scandelous as the the first 4. When reading the back of the book, I thought the scenery change from LA to Vegas would make the book more juicy and exciting, but it wasn't what I expected.
The part where the gang got hypnotized, and reaveled their secrets weren't as shocking as I thought it would be, and were just some things the readers already knew. Cammie's mystery man didn't surpirse me all that much, and at one point I actually thought she was seeing Ben.
The arrival of Cynthia and Scott were one of things that I enjoyed about the book. Zoey writes about all the crazy things Cyn did, and how much Anna was crushing over Scott back in New York, you just knew this was going to happen, and I'm glad it did. I wished there was more of a Cammie/Cynthia confrontation just to see who's the most ourtrageous. Another thing I liked was Parker's POV in the story, since we don't get much of that character.
All in all this was a good book, not amazing like Girls on Film or Blonde Ambition, but if you are a fan of the A-list series then you must pick this up. |
Rating: 4 Back In Black: Not Everything It Promised to Be
Back in Black is the fifth novel in Zoey Dean's A-List series. After much anticipation on my behalf, the events that take place in this novel are not as juicy as I expected them to be. This novel is still a wonderful addition to the series though.
Anna and the rest of Sam's clique leave for Las Vegas, after ditching their senior class trip. When they arrive at the Las Vegas Airport, Parker commits an act that leads into a big fiasco that involves fakes ID's and gambling. On the drive over to the Palms Hotel, Cammie comes up with an idea for a tacky Vegas show-girl competition; everybody agrees to it except Dee. The competition takes place that night and Cammie pulls her 'outrageous stunt'. At the club where the competition is taking place, two shocker characters arrive, taking Anna by surprise. Over the next day, minor events that are very important to the plot take place. Dee becomes very attached to Ruby Hummingbird (Sam's baby sister) and her new interest in Kabbalah starts to take over her mind. Cammie starts to contemplate her relationship with Adam and disappears a few times with a mystery man. The next night, the gang goes to a hypnotist and many secrets are revealed while they are hypnotized, but no one will remember them when they wake up. After the show was over, everyone decided to buy the DVD that shows what they said. That night, they pop it into a DVD player and watch it. By the time the video ends, the group is outraged and many relationships are torn. While all of this is going on, Dee is struggling with her own issues at the Palms hotel. By the end of the story, Zoey Dean ties all of the loose ends together and leaves you with a cliffhanger.

Rating: 5 BEST BOOK BY BEST AUTHOR BY FAR
I don't really care much for most teen fiction, but this is the most fun book I've read in ages. I'm a college student and I picked this up in the airport just because I liked the cover. I didn't even realize it was a teen book until I started reading it. Well, it really goes way beyong a 'teen' book because it is so funny, sexy and juicy with all kind of insider Hollywood info. The author is great at specific detail and at getting under the skin of what it feels like to be a teen girl. I highly recommend this very enjoyable book. |
Rating: 5 Best yet!
Without a doubt, 'Back In Black' is the best in the A-List series so far. While I was disappointed in 'Tall, Cool One,' this made up for it!
The entire book is full of action, comedy, and terrific character descriptions--making it have an awesome plot. It held my interest the entire time and is my new favorite in this series.
In the fifth book, readers get to 'see' Cyn, Scott Spencer, and a new character, Brock. The drama around these three, Cammie, Anna, Sam, Adam, Parker, and Ben (thank God for him!) is incredible.
Absolutely perfect! |
Rating: 5 Excellent Book for the airplane
It will make you want to change your flight plans to Las Vegas ~ I did. |
Rating: 4 Good Book in a Great Series
Don't compare the the A-List books to the Gossip Girls. Though they are both about rich teens, they are two completely different stories, both wonderfull. This is a slow book in the A-List story...too much time in Las Vegas, but you learn more about Cammie and Adam. It severs its purpose in a break from LA. Can't wait to see what happens next. |
Rating: 4 Great Ending!!!!
Okay so, Anna Percy's back!! *woot howl scream*
The book starts out with Sam and Anna attending the Oscars with all the lavishly dressed stars and ammusing reporters. They preceed to go to various night clubs and parties. Nothing of great importance happens for the first hundred pages, really. The start of this book strikes me as kind of slow and unexciting. The blurb on the back cover hardly does justice to it because the Vegas trip really doesn't start until a good third of the book in. But, we're getting there...
Now, the senior class trip this year for Beverley Hills High is to Washington DC. However, it's been a lasting tradition that the 'cool kids' (namely Anna, Sam, Dee, Cammie, Adam, and Parker) go to Las Vegas to party it up. All goes according to plan and the juicy part comes with their wild adventures in Vegas. There are too many subplots to cover, but they include a runway contest where we see a whole lotta Cammie...an amazing hypnotist who puts everyone at each others' throats...and a few surprise cameos from a few VERY important people...
There is huge character development in all of our favorites. Anna learns how to be honest instead of using the 'art of discretion' taught to her by her mother. Sam realizes how nice of a person she really is and takes pride in keeping a very important secret. Cammie lets herself jump into the scary vulnerability of love, actually showing real human emotion. And Dee, well...Dee struggles with some mental issues in this book.
Looking back, this was an amazing, quick read that brought me sqeals of joy and expressions of shock (and i rarely physically react to books.) I actually found myself jumping up and down screaming at one point...= )
So in conclusion, yes, PLEASE, buy this book. It's slow at first but it's all worth it in the end. I don't want to give anything away but a number of old favorites reappear in the book...
You won't want to miss it!!! |
Rating: 3 I guess it's okay
The forth book wasn't what I expected it to be; it was getting kind of boring. And I think that Anna+Ben couple is getting old. I really liked the begining of the A-list serie but now, I think that it's only a bad version of Gossip Girl. |
Rating: 5 OMG THIS IS F***IN GREAT!!!!
omg this book is great! I love what is going on w/ Cammie and Adam. That's strange but it makes the book good. |
Rating: 1 One of the Worst books I've ever read
The first two books in the series were excellent. The last three were awful. I hate how Anna always goes from guy to guy and I hate all the cheesy lines Zoey Dean uses. I also hate how Zoey Dean uses all these descriptive lines and repeates line after line. This book, and the last three, bored me to death. It took me FOREVER to finish reading it. I can normally read a book within a week and half. I read this book in three and a half weeks. So, I give this book one star, because I can't give it anything less. |
Rating: 5 Perfect follow-up
After I had read the 4th book in the a-list series, I thought it would be very hard to get any better. This book proved me wrong with its twisting plot, and the 'sin city scene' making the characters more honest with each other. Everyone's secrets are revealed, and no one can take them back. Fabulous 5th part to the series, and I'm going to start the 6th very soon. |
Rating: 4 Preety Interesting
This A list book was OK. Defentily not as good as the fourth book. Ben just had to come back. he annoys me. I felt really bad for Dee when they put her in the physco ward. This was an OK book. |
Rating: 4 Sin City
In the fifth installment of the A-List series, Back in Black, the gang heads to Sin City, where whatever happens there, stays there. Except for one thing... Ben in back!!! Fun, but not as fun as the first four. |
Rating: 4 The A List : a typical novel for teens
I've read all of the A List novels and a few of the Gossip Girls novels. They are both not the best books I've ever read, but they are good beach reads or books you can read in a short amount of time. I've read the books in nearly a day.The books are fairly short, and don't span over a wide timeline.
But when the senior trip comes up to DC, the A Listers from the senior class do what they do every year: go to Vegas. For some fun one night, they go to a hypnotist. Sam is the only one that doesn't go up on stage and is glad she didn't. When they go to a friend's house to watch the show, everyone finds out about everyone's dirty little secrets.
Who will show up in Vegas? Who has the biggest secret? You'll have to read it to find out.
I don't recommended taking these books to school and reading them, or using it for a book report. I say just read it and ponder over it. |
Rating: 5 The Best A-List Yet!
Anna and the rest of the A-list ditch the senior class trip to Washington DC and go to Las Vegas instead. It is a great idea for a book and Zoey Dean gives this book all the cool stuff she does in all the rest. There is romance. There is betrayals. Cyn and Scott, who are Anna's best friends from New York, show up and really shake things up for everyone. The A-list books are so much fun to read because they have some of the nasty comments of Gossip Girl but also you really, really like Anna. I read this book without getting up and I have to say that I'm really looking forward to the next one when it comes out. |
Rating: 1 Ugh...What Happened To Django?
I'll keep this short, not so sweet and to the point. I've read all of Dean's books up until this point and this is the very FIRST time where I couldn't finish one of her books in 2 days or less. I don't mean to suggest that book #5 was intellectually challenging, it just did nothing in the stimulating department. When I discovered that Django was absent throughout this entire book, I discovered something else...he's the only character that truly interests me. It's odd because even the books he does appear in, that appearance is shortlived, which only leaves you (or at least me) wanting more.
Therefore, allow me to make one request to the author if she should decide to care what her readers really think....PLEASE BRING BACK DJANGO.
*keeps fingers crossed* (It's alot safer than holding my breath)
Signed,
Somewhat Hopeful |
Rating: 5 What better place for naughtyness than in Sin City??
This book was hot hot hot! The most popular A-listers at BHH are going on a trip to Sin City instead of that boring trip to Washington-Parker, Sam, Cammie, Adam, Dee and of course Ana. The six of them check in at Las Vegas' finest Palms Hotel. Cammie decides all the girls should have a catty fashion contest, but when Cammie herself doesnt come appropiately dressed things get a little wild...
Poor Parker is low on cash and is willing to do anything to get some cash fast, but what happens when his gambling reaches a dead end? On the other hand, Anna is running low on love. She seems lost and cant stop thinking about Ben, so she leaves him a voicemail inviting him to Sin City. But what happens when Cyn and Scott show up? Scott is looking amazingly hot and Cyn is unsure about their relationship, will Anna make a move?
And to top off the cake they all go to a hypnotist for fun.But is it all fun and games when they are forced to share their deepest secrets on stage??Cammie confesses something about Adam, Adam confesses something about Cammie, and Anna confesses something about Scott! Sam just lays back with her mouth wide open as she hears these deep revealing secrets. And what happens when they decide to watch the tape? Will all end well? Will there be new hook-ups or break-ups??
And the frosting on top of this cake is that who else but Ben shows up at the Palms just before they're about to leave. Fortunetly, Anna spots him and stops the limo. Unfortunetly, although they express their feelings for each other and cant wait to ravish each other, Ben has a secret- he has a girlfriend waiting for him to come back to her at Princeton. Will this newly revealed secret affect the magic between Ben and Anna?
